Ex Rangers keeper Allan McGregor has finalised his move to Turkish club Besiktas, signing a two-year deal yesterday after passing a medical in Istanbul.
The Scotland shot-stopper is expected to be unveiled by the Super Lig side at a news conference today, having agreed a deal which will earn him just over £18,000 a week.
The Turkish club confirmed on its official website: “Former Glasgow Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has agreed to a two-year deal with the Eagles.”
Speaking in an interview on his new club’s television channel, BJK TV, which was shown on STV, McGregor said: “It’s a big club, with a big tradition.
“Supposedly, they have great fans and a lot of noise in the stadium so I’m excited. I’ll just give my all.”
The head of Besiktas’s football committee, Tamer Kiran, said. “I spent an hour with Allan last night. He is a very good professional and we believe he will deliver our team’s objectives.”
Besiktas will now apply to the Turkish FA for an International Transfer Certificate for the move to go through.
But they are likely to have problems gaining clearance as Rangers owner Charles Green believes they are due a transfer fee.
