Portugal midfielder Manuel Fernandes is a £7million target for Liverpool.
Manuel Fernandes, who is well known to football fans on Merseyside having had two loan spells at Everton in 2007 and 2008, has been linked with a move away from Turkey for some time. Clubs from Italy and Spain are believed to be showing interest in the Portugal international, but according to Wednesday’s report, the player is interested in a return to England.
Fernandes, 26, was once regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Europe, and was courted by Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson. The ex-Benfica star, now with Turkish side Besiktas, is familiar with the Premier League after two loan spells at Everton in 2007 and 2008 and a stint at Portsmouth in 2006.
Liverpool are one of a clutch of clubs who have been alerted that Portugal international Fernandes could be on the move this summer.
Fernandes would be keen on a return to England and new Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is now weighing up a potential deal. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers on Tuesday revealed he is hoping to complete “a number of deals” before the transfer window closes at the end of the month as the Reds continue to be linked with a number of players.
