Former CHP head Deniz Baykal taken to hospital
The former main opposition CHP leader and Antalya deputy, was hospitalized in the capital Ankara.
The initial medical examinations at a private hospital showed Baykal had suffered from severe influenza, after which he was transferred to Ankara University’s İbn-i Sina Hospital.
The party’s former deputy leader Yılmaz Ateş told reporters on Oct. 16 that Baykal was not in critical condition and his treatment has been ongoing at the hospital.
He added Baykal had been diagnosed with vascular occlusion after complaints of influenza.
Meanwhile, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called Ankara University rector Professor Erkan İbiş to be briefed about Baykal’s condition, according to presidential sources.
