Football professional dies at the age of just 22
One month ago, footballer Marco Angulo was in a car accident. Now the Ecuadorian national player has died as a result.
Mourning for Marco Angulo: The 22-year-old football professional has died, as his club LDU Quito announced at the start of the week.
The Ecuadorian national player was involved in a serious car accident at the beginning of October and was subsequently put into an artificial coma by doctors to save his life. But the attempt failed after weeks of treatment. Two other people involved had already died, two others are still injured.
The Ecuadorian first division club LDU Quito announced: “We express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. His death is a loss that will leave an indelible mark in our hearts.”
It was already the second serious accident in which Angulo was involved. At the end of 2022, the midfielder was in the car when his cousin was killed in a crash. The accident occurred in the city of Guayaquil.
Angulo had been playing in Quito since March of this year, coming on loan from MLS club Cincinnati. He had previously trained at Independiente del Valle, won the championship with his hometown club and also made his debut for the national team at that time. He last played for “La Tri”, as the Ecuadorian team is also called, in March 2023.
