Fleetwood Mac’s Brett Tuggle is dead
For over 20 years he banged the keys for the rock band Fleetwood Mac. Keyboarder Brett Tuggle has died at the age of 70.
Fleetwood Mac was one of the most successful music groups of all, especially in the 1970s and 1980s. But even after that, the band around Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood was able to celebrate great success. Brett Tuggle played keyboards for the concerts the band played between 1997 and 2018. He was also involved in the songwriting of the solo career of David Lee Roth, the first singer of Van Halen. Now the musician is dead.
Tuggle passed away from cancer on Sunday June 19th. His son Matt confirmed his death to Rolling Stone magazine. “Jessie’s Girl” performer Rick Springfield, who worked with Tuggle, also paid tribute to his late colleague on Twitter. “Our beloved Brett Tuggle made it home tonight. God bless his wonderful spirit,” the singer wrote alongside a collage of pictures featuring the keyboardist.
Top 10 hit with David Lee Roth
Born in Denver, the musician learned classical piano in his youth. From his teenage years he moved around with different bands. Later, Tuggle became a tour keyboardist for Rick Springfield and David Lee Roth. With him he also wrote the US Top 10 hit “Just Like Paradise” from 1988.
Brett Tuggle first came into contact with Fleetwood Mac in 1992. Drummer Mick Fleetwood signed him for his side project The Zoo. In 1997 Tuggle went on tour with the newly formed Fleetwood Mac. He was also involved in the band members’ solo projects. When guitarist Lindsay Buckingham was fired from the band in 2018, so did Brett Tuggle.
