Authorities at the State of Ohio have confirmed that a man has been killed by his own dogs after receiving hundreds of bites.

The man which has been identified as Michael Winters was found by his father in a pool of blood with bite marks all over his body.

The 30-year-olds body was discovered on Tuesday at his homes driveway roughly 56 kilometers southwest of Cleveland.

Coroner Paul Matus said up to nine dogs left “hundreds” of bites on Mr Winters that caused extensive bleeding.

The coroner said the attack could have been caused by the dogs developing a pack mentality.

“We really don’t know what prompted this,” Mr Matus said.

“When they develop a pack mentality, they are likely to launch an attack on someone.”

Two of the dogs were shot after they turned aggressive when police officers approached them.

The remaining dogs mostly made up of large breeds were all put down.
