Eurozone inflation exceeds expectations
Annual inflation in the Eurozone was 2.6 percent in February. Market expectations were for annual inflation in the Eurozone to be 2.5 percent in February.
Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the Euro Zone was announced as 2.6 percent on an annual basis in February.
The European Statistical Office (Eurostat) published the leading inflation data of the Euro Zone for February.
According to the data, annual inflation in the Eurozone, which was 2.8 percent in January, was determined as 2.6 percent in February. CPI was 0.6 percent in February compared to the previous month.
Market expectations were for annual inflation in the Eurozone to be 2.5 percent in February, and it was noteworthy that the announced data was higher than market expectations.
THE HIGHEST INCREASE IS IN FOOD, ALCOHOL AND TOBACCO
Looking at the main components of inflation, the highest annual inflation occurred in food, alcohol and tobacco products with 4 percent. While food was followed by services with 3.9 percent and non-energy industrial products with 1.6 percent, energy products decreased by 3.7 percent.
Core inflation in the Eurozone was measured at 3.1 percent annually and 0.7 percent monthly in February.
According to EU-compatible data, inflation was determined as 2.7 percent in Germany, 3.1 percent in France, 0.9 percent in Italy and 2.9 percent in Spain in February.
