Part 1 Match report
Germany continued their perfect record in the Euro 2012 qualifiers on Friday beating Turkey 3-0 in Berlin in what proved to be Klose’s night.
The Germans were the outright deserved winners of the game with 30,000 Turkish fans supporting the red and white outfit.
It was almost as if Germany had come to an away game themselves with over 1.6 million Turks living in Germany and an estimated 2.8 million with German citizenship.
So yesterdays game was very much going to take the away game atmosphere out of the window, however though the fans did their part it was certainly not the case for the football on the pitch.
The only part of the game where Turkey looked to have any morality of control in the game was during the first five to ten minutes where a few passes were made, but other than that, Turkey was tasteless.
The first half of the game saw the Turkish midfield do inaccurate passes over and over again seeing the ball go out to the touch line constantly.
The game was controlled by Germany and the midfield led my Mesut Özil who was booed constantly during the game by the Turkish fans, but I’ll get back to that later.
Klose scored the opener on the 42nd minute after Muller’s header hit the finger tips of Turkish keeper Volkan Demirel and deflected off the crossbar to land in front of Klose who headed the ball behind the net.
The second half started as dull as the second for the Turks with terrible passes being made by the team as a whole, from defense to midfield to the forwards, there was a lack of accuracy.
When one looks back at the second half though with the lack of goal positions, this game should have still been a historical goal fest for the Germans. The Turks were just not up for the challenge and they lacked in all departments.
The only player who was outstanding for Turkey and for certain made this game a credible win for Germany and not a goal fest was Turkish defender Servet Çetin.
Though Servet was injured during the first half of the game after a clash with the German goalkeeper and was left on the ground for several minutes, he managed to continue with great effect for the Turks.
Germany’s second goal came by Mesut Özil the much debated Real Madrid superstar who chose Germany over Turkey.
Özil scored on the 79th minute and looked happy but did not celebrate despite the constant booing of the Turkish fans which was almost deafening.
Germany’s final goal came from a Volkan Demirel blunder which reflected Turkey’s performance in the game.
While the Turkish keeper was given a back pass and cleared the ball, it went as far as Klose who was a few meters away from the goalkeeper’s area and was left free to sprint into the area and shoot between Demirel’s legs to make it 3-0.
It was a devastating day in the name of football for Turkey almost reminding us of the terrible days of the 80’s where the Turks conceding 3 4 5 goals a match was the norm.

Part 2 – Booing Mesut Özil !
I watched the Euro 2012 qualifying game between Germany Vs Turkey in horror.
I say horror because the performance of the Turkish national side was not one of a country where its club teams in the top flight have spent a combined $600 million this season.
Yesterdays performance by Turkey would not of even made Luxemburg with a population of 77,000 happy let alone Turkey with 77 million.
It was almost as the team was afraid of Germany even before the game let alone during the game.
But it was fair to say that for years what was being done to be popular was again being done yesterday If you know what I mean.
Players who have not been playing for their club side, players who have been injured for months, players who have been forced to play in positions they are not used to and even sides they are not used to, bringing four goalkeepers for two games and not adding people who disserve to be there to the squad is not something Turkish football is new to…
I have no idea who has been advising Guss Hiddink but for some mysterious reason, he played a Sabri Sarıoğlu who has not played for his club team at a regular basis in over two months, and has not played as a left back for Turkey since 28 March 2007 against Norway where Turkey were losing 2-0 by the first half and Sabri was then changed to the right back position.
There are so many more things to say about our team and the people who manage it but it just gives me pain…
Now let’s come to Mesut Özil who scored the second goal for the German’s.
Who is Mesut Özil? Let’s first look at that.
Mesut Özil one of four son’s of Mustafa Özil, a man originally from the Turkish city of Zonguldak who moved over to Germany in the 70’s.
Why did Mr Mustafa move to Germany…
Why did he leave his own nation to go to Germany…
How did he raise his children there…
The people who did not question these, unfortunately where the ones who booed Mesut Özil both after he scored and every time he got the ball to his feet.
And those people who booed Özil were German Turks and not travelers from Turkey.
Those who booed Özil were the entity which resulted out of the Turkish media who do not appreciate Özil or others like Özil.
However I am proud of Mesut Özil
For his sportsmanship
For him making me have fun while watching football after a long time
And for representing us and our children in Germany and in Spain in the best possible way.
What can turkey do to play better next year with germany? Was it because no Arda or Nihat? or was it just turkey not playing how they should have played, i realised they play much better when arda is there. They played superb against Romania this year, and very good against Belgium, then again bad defence..
Good article, congrats to Ozil, very professional.
