Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan is fighting for power  even during a state visit to Germany. In Berlin, he makes a speech in front of thousands of cheering supporters. The allegations of corruption against his government, he called conspiracy.

Suddenly the guests fall silent in Berlin Tempodrom. For almost an hour, the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has spoken in the hall in the Kreuzberg district to his followers. He has praised the reforms of his Muslim-conservative government, praised the economic success, again and again he was interrupted by cheers storms.

But now he is dedicated to the “process of 17 December”, the “coup against our country,” he says. Shortly before Christmas, Turkish police have arrested high-ranking politicians from the ruling party AKP and entrepreneurs. The accused is alleged to have accepted bribes in the millions and threaded illegal oil deals with Iran. The scandal has brought Turkey the most serious crisis in its recent history. Erdogan was released after the arrests, thousands of police and judicial officials or demoted and replaced half of his Cabinet.

“We have encountered many cases,” Erdogan calls now at the Tempodrom. A murmur goes through the hall. “They wanted to ban our party. Yet they did not succeed. Now they are trying it again.”

Since the crisis began the Premier tried to dismiss the allegations of corruption against his government as a conspiracy . Erdogan called a name, the people in the room still understand who his tirades are: The community of the Turkish preacher Fethullah Gülen. The Prime Minister suspected followers of the Imam, who lives in exile in the United States and was once an important ally of the government to have established a “state within a state” and to be instrumental in the investigation of AKP politicians. Gülen Erdogan has now indicated for alleged slander. “These people have no love for their country,” said the Premier.
