England Vs Ukraine 1-0 – Euro 2012 Highlights: Rooney Gerrard goals send England to Euro 2012 Quarter-Finals undeservingly. England will face Italy. Ukraine upset following thge exit due to disallowed but proper goal. Video

Donetsk Euro 2012 News / NationalTurk – England obtained a hard fought but still undeserved victory at the Donetsk Donbass Arena against a Ukrainian side that deserved much more in this match as they were knocked out of the group stages with Wayne Rooney scoring the only goal of the entire game. The result sees Ukraine knocked-out of Euro 2012 in the first round, sharing the same fate with co hosts Poland but they will exit lamenting the failure of the officials to award them a goal despite the ball clearly crossing the line from Marko Devic’s effort.

England vs Ukraine Euro 2012 : British hanky panky sends them into lap of Italy

England produced a dogged rear-guard effort to see off a determined Ukraine 1-0 in Donetsk and move into the quarter-finals of Euro 2012, courtesy of a second-half goal from the retuning Wayne Rooney and bad referring.

Ukraine was by far the better of both sides at England vs Ukraine match with more shots on target and just being consistently dangerous throughout the entire encounter. But the level of danger subsided in the box. Ashley Young made an early mistake which almost cost them the game when Oleg Gusev managed to steal the ball from the Manchester United player and later slamming the ball over the crossbar.

Wayne Rooney : His presence alone enough to change this mediocre England side’s fate at Euro 2012

Wayne Rooney made his return to the English squad after being suspended for two game and he nearly gave his side the lead at the 28th minute when he tried to head a cross of Young but the 26 years old striker failed to hit it with enough force and direction to put it past Ukraine’s goalkeeper Pyatov.

Wayne Rooney boost paid its dividents 3 minutes into the 2nd half and England found the goal that would slip them into the Quarter-Finals of this Euro 2012 when Steven Gerrard, who was the best man on the pitch was rushing down the right flank and smashed it across Pyatov’s legs and his fellow defenders who failed to clear it away from danger allowing England striker Wayne Rooney, whose hair is full now on his head and Rooney headed it into a completely empty net scoring his first goal in 8 years in a major football tournament.

England vs Ukraine : Highlights reveal Ukraine was the better but insufficient team

From this point on it was all Ukraine who tried to get back into the England vs Ukraine game with a number of clear chances that they created as they deserved more than just a defeat this was evidenced when Marko Devic received the ball at the edge of England’s penalty box and managed to make some space to take shot into the net which appeared to actually have crossed the goal line before John Terry cleared it away but despite having cleared the line, the goal was not allowed by the referre army Uefa put to use. The idiot of a lines referree must be blind or England fan.

Meanwhile FIFA President Sepp Blatter stated earlier today that goalline technology is “a necessity” after Ukraine became the latest victims of its absence from the game and sparked the controversy from all over again after the incident at 2010 England Germany World Cup game.

But for all their neat build-up, Ukraine struggled for a cutting edge. The closest they came to a goal late on was from another fierce long-range effort from Konoplyanka that wrong-footed Hart, who in the end made a miraculous one-handed save.

England vs Ukraine Goals : First refereeing scandal in Euro 2012

For England, the result, in combination with France’s surprise defeat to Sweden, is enough to see them top Group D. A huge boost given that it means Roy Hodgson’s side avoid defending champs Spain in the quarter-finals and will instead take on a weird Italy on Sunday. But it could have been very different as England had to survive long periods pegged back, particularly in the opening half.

England slipped into the Quarter-Finals as they are set to face Italy on the 23rd of June while Ukraine are undeservedly out of the Euro 2012 tournament.

  1. BS. What about the England vs Germany in the world cup, the swedish goal whereby it’s a own-goal deflected from Englands striker, and all these other “Fluke” should have beens or shouldn’t have beens for England?

Pretty much 80% of the matchs I watch england gets the piss taken out of. Good one for England!

  2. it doesnt matter what people say or how much people hate becuase it has been given and no one can change that plus England disserve some luck like what mike said about lampards goal no one cared. And even if john terry was not there and did not stop it then this time we could blame the lines-man and not the referee becuase if the lines-man was doing a ‘GOOD JOB’ then he would of called the player offside which he oviously is and if you disagree with me before you go running your mouth look at it again and then tell me otherwise. To be honest i think that people are jelouse and scared that if england start doing well again we will be THE BEST!. peace.

  3. What a great pile of biased garbage this is!It was clearly offside, but not noticing that was fine!Crossing the line and not being given a travesty…get out of town! England have often gone out over lousy decisions and nobody but us kicks up a fuss. How can racism in football be eradicated when anti- English nonsense such as this is published. As it goes, Ukraine needed to score again…would they have?…NO I very much doubt it!

  4. Jesus what a horrible report. Sooo biased. Just like other comment said when Lampard scored that goal against germany last world cup but it wasn’t allowed no one cared. England didnt even have to try that game since a tie would get them through anyway.

  5. What a biased report this is. Does anyone remember the lampard ”goal” that wasn’t given against germany? Don’t remember anyone makin too much fuss about that other than England fans. Yeah, they had more possesion and dominated but we sat back due to the fact that we would win the group with a draw and we were winning. Give them their goal, it changes nothing. WE STILL WIN THE GROUP. This is a horrible report written, probably by a German.
