Newly Elected MP Hatip Dicle Barred from Turkish Parliament
The Supreme Election Board deprived Hatip Dicle from his right to deputyship. His mandate was replaced by AKP candidate Eronat.
The kurdish society called on BDP and independent deputies for a boycott of parliament. MP Kürkçü assessed the decision as a “coup”.
Tension is running high in Turkey after the decision of the Supreme Election Board (YSK) to deprive Hatip Dicle from his right to deputyship.The High Electoral Board of Turkey announced late Tuesday that Hatip Dicle, who was elected as an independent representative from Diyarbakir city of southeastern Turkey, could not take a seat in the newly elected parliament. He was supported by the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) which won 36 seats in the 550- member parliament.
