Ed Sheeran announces birth of second child

Ed Sheeran became a father for the second time in his life, and hardly anyone knew about his wife’s pregnancy. The singer announced the birth of his daughter via Instagram.

Musician Ed Sheeran (31) and his wife Cherry Seaborn (30) have become parents again! The singer surprisingly announced the birth of his second daughter via Instagram. “I wanted to let you all know that we’ve had another beautiful girl,” the musician wrote alongside a photo showing a pair of baby socks.

Ed Sheeran: Daughter Lyra has had a sister

It’s already a tradition: the musician also announced the birth of his first daughter Lyra Antarctica in August 2020 with such a picture. “We are both so in love with her and so happy to be a family of four,” the new post continues.

The news comes as a surprise, because only the closest family members knew about the pregnancy. A spokeswoman has since confirmed to Britain’s The Sun: “They are so excited that Lyra is having a little sister and the four are enjoying some precious family time before Ed goes back on tour.” She hopes their privacy will be respected during this special time. Sheeran has not yet revealed the name of the second daughter.

Ed Sheeran wanted more children

Ed Sheeran said last year that family planning isn’t over yet. He would be “super grateful” if more children were added, the singer explained – and at the time he was apparently already thinking of more daughters: “Girls are far superior to boys. As a boy, I have the feeling I can say that,” said the 31 -year-old in the podcast “Open House Party”. He was “so happy” to have a child, “and I think I would love more.”

Ed Sheeran married his longtime girlfriend and childhood sweetheart, Cherry Seaborn, in 2019. The couple mostly keeps their marriage out of the public eye.
