Los Angeles / NationalTurk – Dwight Howard ‘s status remains unaltered since the end of this 2011-2012 season, expressed Dan Fegan of LaGardere Unlimited. ‘ Dwight fully intends to give a hot at free agency at the end of next season, regardless of what team trades for him, including Brooklyn Nets or LA Lakers ‘

Sources claim the new kid on the block in New York, the Brooklyn Nets never insisted Dwight Howard commit to an extension as a prerequisite for acquiring him via a trade, which Nets chairman Billy King confirmed in a text message.

Dwight Howard to taste free agency after or before the trade

Dwight Howard told the Orlando Magic, according to Magic’s GM Rob Hennigan, he would like to be traded to the Brooklyn Nets above any other team. The Brooklyn Nets made definitive efforts to get a deal for prized Dwight Howard earlier this month, but had to stop when the hapless Charlotte Bobcats threatened to sign their restricted free agent center, Brook Lopez, to an offer sheet.

Earlier expectations revealed that Brook Lopez was a instrumental key of any deal between the Brooklyn Nets and the Orlando Magic and signing an offer sheet could have preempted including him in any deal, depending on the terms of the offer sheet. The Brooklyn Nets then decided to give Lopez a $61 million in a four-year deal.

Dwight Howard : A Los Angeles Laker soon?

The Los Angeles Lakers have become the primary suitor for Dwight Howard after this development, recruiting both the Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers as potential third-team participants in a possible trade attempt to deliver the salary relief, draft picks and young talent as Orlando Magic is seeking a little something in return for their All-Star center  who arguably is the best no. 5 in NBA.

ESPN Insider’s Larry Coon suggests that the longest extension Dwight Howard could sign with Orlando Magic then gets traded would be 2 years, or 3 years if he signed after being traded to another team.

If Dwight Howard waits until his current deal expires, D-12 aka superman would be eligible to sign a new 5-year lucrative deal for as much as whopping $108 million.
