Dutchman arrested after shooting with 5 injured in Marbella beach club

At least five people were injured in a fight in a crowded disco in Marbella, Spain.

They have been transferred to a hospital. The Spanish police have arrested a Dutch man as a suspect, the Ministry of Dutch Affairs confirms to NU.nl after reporting by the AD.

Firearms and knives were used during the fight. The arrested Dutchman is suspected of having shot. The ministry could not provide further details about his identity.

Spanish media reported that a 40-year-old man was arrested as a suspect, but did not mention his nationality. Eyewitnesses say the assailant was stabbed and sustained life-threatening injuries. He would have been the sole shooter.

The incident happened at the Opium Beach Club disco, which is located on the beach on the eastern edge of the city center. According to local media, an argument broke out in the night from Sunday to Monday, in which people attacked each other with firearms and stabbing weapons. Then panic broke out in the club.

A 32-year-old woman is said to have been seriously injured by a bullet and is in intensive care. A 32-year-old Irishman is also said to be in hospital with a gunshot wound.

Three more men were taken to hospital, but suffered minor injuries. A nineteen-year-old man is said to have a grazed gunshot to his hip. And a 36-year-old man reportedly has injuries to his back.
