The traditional garden parties at Buckingham Palace this time had to take place without Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen was represented by family members including Duchess Kate – who turned heads.
In recent months, Queen Elizabeth II has repeatedly canceled appointments due to her health. Officials say she is struggling with limited mobility. At the beginning of May it was announced that the 96-year-old would not attend the traditional garden parties at Buckingham Palace as usual.
At the event, the monarch was represented by other members of the royal family. Her son, Prince Edward, and his wife, Sophie von Wessex, received hundreds of people at the London estate. Duchess Kate was also there on behalf of the Queen – and outshone everyone with her choice of outfit.
Prince William’s wife went for color to match the floral setting, wearing a coral coat dress by designer Emilia Wickstead that made her stand out from the crowd. In addition, the 40-year-old had combined a striking hat in the right tone. Pumps and bag also fit perfectly into the color scheme.
Duchess Kate was in a good mood
But it wasn’t just her outfit that shone, Kate herself was all smiles at the event. The Duchess personally greeted numerous guests in the afternoon and seemed very lively during short conversations, the British “Daily Mail” reported, among other things.
