Drew Barrymore on Dating: “It Hurts”

Between her role as a mother, her job and her friends, Drew Barrymore rarely has time for dates. Nevertheless, the prominent single lady tries to give herself time to try her luck in love.

“I think to myself: Oh, that shouldn’t be lost sight of,” she reveals to “People” magazine.

But looking for a partner has its difficulties and pitfalls – which probably everyone with dating experience has already experienced. The actress speaks very openly about this: “I can’t believe how much ghosting hurts. I can understand anyone who has ever been ghosted and feels like a fire went through their body.”

“Ghosting” is the term used to describe someone cutting off contact and ignoring messages without notice or explanation. This often happens in dating when one side suddenly stops responding after a first meeting or date. Drew Barrymore couldn’t understand how people behave like this. You find this “strange”.

The 47-year-old also had one or two bad experiences on dates. “I was on dates and I was like, ‘Oh my God, why did I say yes to a meal?'” Because even before ordering the food, she realized that the meeting was not a success.

“It feels unhealthy”

Especially if you only have very few evenings to yourself anyway, it is difficult to give them up for appointments. Nor would it be about just having sex with someone without thinking about the future. “It doesn’t make any sense to me right now,” she says.

Despite various setbacks, the Hollywood star does not want to completely put the search for a partner on hold. Barrymore: “I go on dates every now and then because it’s human and natural to do it. It feels unhealthy to cut it out of life completely.”

In addition to her work, the film actress takes care of her children. She has daughters, 10 and 8, from her 2016 marriage to Will Kopelman. In total, the “Charlie’s Angels” star was married three times.
