Steve Mullings was banned from athleticism for life after a second doping scandal, by a decision from the Jamaican Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel.

Kingston / NationalTurk- ‘We believe that a clear and strong message must be sent to every athlete in Jamaica and in the world that prohibited substances will not and cannot be tolerated in sports,’ Jamaican doping disciplinary panel head Lennox Gayle told.

Steve Mullings, 28, is expected to appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), according to his attorney, Alando Terrelonge. The attorney of Mullings claimed the ruling was unfair and unjustified hence the evidence presented to the three-member panel was comprimised.

Steve Mullings : Second drug abuse lead to career ban

Steve Mullings, a former relay world champion, had been found guilty last week by the doping in sports disciplinary panel for using the banned diuretic furosemide, which can act as a possible cloaking agent for other drugs, which are prohibited in all sports.

The Jamaican sprinter, now based and residing in the United States of America, did not attend the hearing. This is the second time the Jamaican sprinter got involved in a doping in sports case.

Steve Mullings tested positive for the substance after placing third in the 100 meters final of the Jamaican national trials in June. The sprinter previously served a two-year ban after testing positive for excessive levels of testosterone in his body in 2004. This time he faces being ban from the sports for life.
