A Taiwanese teenager hacked and slashed his way at Diablo 3 until he died at an Internet cafe after reportedly playing Diablo 3 for nearly 2 days nonstop.

Diablo 3 News / NationalTurk – Taiwanese Teen, 18, dies from Diablo 3 marathon gaming session. Diablo 3 victim has only been identified by his first name, Chuang, had booked a private room at the Tainan cafe in southern Taiwan. Chuang then proceeded to play Diablo 3 for 40 hours straight without eating or standing up, despite Diablo 3 warns the gamers against the ill effects of prolonged game play specially the dangers of uninterrupted sedentary position during Diablo 3 gameplay.

Nearly 2 days later an attendant at the Internet cafe went into the room where Chuang had been playing Diablo 3 and found the teen resting on the table. Chuang the Diablo 3 martyr was able to wake up and stand up, he even took a few steps and but then collapsed onto the ground. He was pronounced dead soon after arriving at the hospital.

Initial reports say that long hours in a sedentary position caused cardiovascular trouble for Chuang the first official Diablo 3 martyr.

Playing Diablo 3 for 40 consecutive hours can be lathal due to sitting for such a long period of time which can result in blood clot. That was the case with Chuang who was the first official Diablo 3 victim. Taiwanese Police were investigating the cause of death and and an autopsy was being carried out.

Blizzard Entertainment, the developer of Diablo 3 released a statement, regarding the teen’s death after 40 consecutive hours of Diablo 3 gameplay:

We’re saddened to hear this news, and our thoughts are with his family and friends of Chuang the Diablo 3 martyr during this difficult time. We don’t feel it would be appropriate for us to comment further without knowing all of the circumstances involved. While we recognise that it’s ultimately up to each individual or their parent or guardian to determine Diablo 3 playing habits, we feel that any kind of moderation is clearly of significance, and that a person’s day-to-day life should take precedence over any form of entertainment.

Diablo 3 victim Chuang is not the first game player to die following a long gaming marathon

Taiwan is notorious for giving gamer casualities. In February, 23-year-old Chen Rong-yu was found dead in an Internet cafe in New Taipei City, Taiwan, after having played League of Legends for only 23 hours straight, and died. The cause of death was reported as cardiac arrest following prolonged hours of video gaming in a sedentary position.

Heart failure could also be the culprit at Diablo 3 death case, as was fingered in the deaths of several other gamers who succumbed to lengthy play sessions, including a 28 year old South Korean man who passed away after a 50-hour Starcraft marathon, and a 30 year old Chinese man who died following a three day gaming marathon. Diablo 3 is great game but no video game on earth is worth dying lads..be clever..
