Depeche Mode keyboardist Andy Fletcher's cause of death revealed
Depeche Mode announced Andy Fletcher’s cause of death / Following the death of Depeche Mode founding member Andrew Fletcher on May 26, 2022, the band has now announced the musician’s cause of death.
Almost a month after the death of Depeche Mode member Andy Fletcher, the remaining members Dave Gahan and Martin Gore have now made a statement on the official cause of death – and thanked their fans with an emotional post.
“We wanted to take a moment to say thank you for the great love for Andy that we have received from all of you over the past few weeks,” the band wrote. “It’s incredible to see all of your photos, to read your words and to see how much Andy meant to you all. As you can imagine, it’s been a weird, sad and confusing few weeks for us here, to say the least. But we saw and felt all of your love and support, and we know Andy’s family did too,” the statement continued.
Andy Fletcher died from it
Then the band explains why Flechter died: “A few weeks ago we received the result of the medical examination that Andy’s family asked us to share with you now. Andy suffered an aortic dissection while at home on May 26th. Although it was much, much too early, he died naturally and without long suffering.”
An aortic dissection is a tear in the inner layer of the main artery. Such a tear means that blood can penetrate the vessel wall and split it. This tear can occur completely unexpectedly and unexpectedly and is potentially life-threatening.
Gore and Gahan also revealed something about the funeral ceremony, which took place on June 20, 2022 in London: “It was a beautiful ceremony and a meeting with a few tears, but also with great memories of Andy, with stories from our time together and with some good laughs. Andy was celebrated in a room filled with many of his friends and family, our immediate DM family and so many people who have touched Andy’s and our lives over the years. Being all together was a very special way to remember and say goodbye to Andy.”
“Thank you for all the love you have shown Andy, his family and friends over the last few weeks. It really means a lot to all of us,” the band continues – and ends the statement with the words “Andy, we will miss you, but we will certainly not forget you.
Love, Martin & Dave”
