Debanhi Escobar: they confirm that the body found is that of the young woman who disappeared on the “highway of death”

The body found in a cistern belongs to Debanhi Escobar, the young woman who disappeared on the “highway of death” in Nuevo León on April 9, forensic tests determined.

The authorities confirmed that the body found in a cistern in Nuevo León is that of Debanhi Escobar, the young woman who disappeared on April 9 on the so-called highway of death in Nuevo León.

The Nuevo León Prosecutor’s Office reported that the young woman died from a “deep bruise on the skull.”

“The scientific tests carried out allow us to determine that the body found is the Debanhi Susana, the cause of death being a deep contusion in the skull. We offer our condolences to his family and loved ones,” said prosecutor Gustavo Adolfo Guerrero.

Guerero stressed that at this time no line of investigation is ruled out.

After the confirmation of the Prosecutor’s Office, the father of the young woman, Mario Escobar, asked “that whoever has to fall falls”, after making it clear that he felt “used by the prosecution” because they had lied to him and his wife, in the midst of pain for not having news of his daughter.

Although forensic confirmation was awaited, upon finding the body the authorities had detailed that it had the shoes, clothes and a crucifix that the young woman was wearing at the time of disappearance.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the Undersecretary of Security and Protection, Ricardo Mejía, referred to the case this Friday and sent condolences to the family, despite the fact that the identification of the body had not been made official.

Both López Obrador and Mejía reiterated the federal government’s willingness to collaborate with the case, which for now is in the hands of the Nuevo León authorities. They will seek “zero impunity,” said the president, who extended “condolences” to the family, while official confirmation was still awaited.

This Thursday night, April 21, the authorities indicated that they had found a body in the cistern of a motel in the area where Debanhi Escobar had disappeared.

The body was found after personnel moving through the area described to the Police a “fetid odor” coming from the area of the cistern. On Thursday night, the prosecution issued a statement saying that the agents had “located a body inside an abandoned cistern” and that “the victim’s family has been duly notified.”

Debanhi Escobar’s father: “My daughter is dead and I don’t know what to do”
Debanhi’s father, Mario Escobar, spoke from the place where the body was found: “We didn’t get the result that my wife and I wanted, demanded. My daughter is dead and I don’t know what to do,” he said.

Escobar had complained to the authorities: “13 days here! How many times have you been here? Indeed, the property where the discovery was made had already been inspected twice by officials from the prosecution and the Local Search Commission.

The last steps of Debanhi Escobar

Debanhi Escobar went out to party with two friends on the night of April 8 and she was last seen at dawn on the 9th.

Her friends left the place without her, they told police. She disappeared near the so-called highway of death, in Nuevo León.

Around 5:00 in the morning of the 9th, the young woman boarded a car belonging to a driver of a shared ride company outside the fifth Venice, located at number 1236 Numancia Street in the Nueva Castilla neighborhood of the municipality of Escobedo .

Nothing is known about what happened from the moment the driver passed through Debanhi to the party, apparently to the fifth Venice, and the moment she took the picture in which she is seen at the foot of the road. The photograph of Debanhi that has been spread, it is known, was shared by the driver with the friends and they, in turn, with the Escobar family on the same Saturday.

Last photo of Debanhi Escobar and the security cameras

The bleak image of Debanhi Escobar, in which she appears waiting for someone, was apparently captured at the point where Numancia Street and the highway intersect.

In total, 17 security cameras are installed throughout the street, reports indicate. However, the Nuevo León Attorney General’s Office (FGE) has had access to only three videos belonging to a company that is located 85 yards (75 meters) from where Escobar was dropped off.

Gustavo Adolfo Guerrero, attorney general of Nuevo León, told reporters that the motel where the body was found was one of the first places they investigated. “From the beginning we went there to the hotel and we asked them for the videos, but they don’t record, they only have real-time monitoring. That was the problem. In the last videos that we have, Debanhi was 300 or 500 meters away from that hotel, ”he detailed.
