Dayron Robles the Cuban Superstar and Olympic medallist came first in the Mens 60 Meter Hurdles Final of the IAAF World Indoor Athletics Championship held in Doha, Qatar.
Robles who holds the world record for the 110 meter hurdles passed his greatest competitors, US pair Terrance Trammell and David Oliver to win in the final of the mens 60 meter hurdles at the World Indoor Athletics Championship.
The Cuban who won the 110 meter hurdles at the Beijing Olympics two years ago finished the race with 7.34 seconds.
Terrace who was one of Robles greatest competitors in the final came second with 7.36 seconds which was an American record.
Terrace was very close to winning the final as the Cuban Robles had started the race poorly. Robles then went into to second gear and took the race in the last strides with an impressive finish.
However the Cuban superstar Robles had prepared very well for the first clash of the season with the American Terrace. The mens 110 meter World record holder, Robels eased through his qualifying rounds but as his usual performance, did what was necessary when it mattered.
Former Olympic champion, Chinese, Lui Xiang finished in seventh place but looked happy as it was his first appearance in a major final since his 13 month absence due to injury.
Robles almost looked as if he made the race personal with the American’s. Robles is one of Cuba’s and Latin Americas greatest hopes in athletics and he constantly shows why.
