A 51-year-old Danish woman tourist was allegedly gang-raped at knife point in Indian capital last night.

New Delhi, Jan 15/Nationalturk –  A 51-year-old Danish woman tourist was allegedly gang-raped by a gang of eight people at knife near Railway Station in Indian capital (New Delhi) last night.

Police sources said the victim lost her way while she was returning to her hotel in Paharganj area of New Delhi from Cannaught Place last evening.

“She approached a group of men for directions. The group of eight youth instead of helping her allegedly took her to a secluded place, where they raped her on knife point,” they said.

They said the rapists also robbed her of the valuables.

“After her gang rape, she somehow boarded a three-wheeler returned to her hotel and narrated the woeful incident to the manager, who in turn informed police.  The cops reached the hotel and recorded her statement. They registered a case and launched a manhunt to track down the accused,” sources said.

They said the woman was taken to Danish Embassy in New Delhi after recording her statement with the police.

Many people detained for questioning

Police sources said cops have detained many people for questioning in connection with the case. “People, who are drug addicts and stay at roadside in the Paharganj area might be involved in the crime,” the police official said.

The woman had arrived in Delhi on Tuesday after visiting the Taj Mahal in Agra. The victim was supposed to leave for her country on Wednesday morning.

The case comes weeks after a Polish woman was allegedly drugged and raped by a taxi driver while traveling with her two-year-old daughter to New Delhi.
