Danish Prince Nikolai suspended from elite school
A posh boarding school in Denmark is mired in a scandal. Prince Nikolai also lived there for a few years. Due to an incident, however, the Danish royal was temporarily expelled from the school.
A few days ago the documentary “Herlufsholms hemmelighede” – “The Secrets of Herlufsholm” – was broadcast on TV. The revelations in the production caused a scandal. It is unclear whether the son of the Danish crown prince couple, Prince Frederik and Princess Mary, will remain there. Christian’s sister, Princess Isabella, was also due to start there this fall. Likewise, Prince Nikolai, the son of Prince Joachim and his ex-wife Alexandra von Frederiksborg, was at the school for a few years.
Nikolai broke school rules
The 22-year-old also comes to the fore with the latest statements. In an interview with the Danish TV channel TV 2 Øst, former Rector Klaus Eusebius Jakobsen reveals that Nikolai was suspended for several days during his time on the Internet. The royal offspring lived there from 2014 and graduated from high school four years later.
“A few years ago we had a student here who was a member of the royal family. People know who I’m talking about,” reports Jakobsen. “He broke one of the school alcohol rules and I have to say I was stone cold.” When asked directly, he confirms that it is Nikolai.

Nikolai’s mother then commented on these revelations: “The Countess can confirm that Prince Nikolai received a warning and was sent home for a few days. Previously, Nikolai’s mother emphasized that her son had only good memories of his school days, and she was shocked by the revelations.
