A Greek footballer has become an internet phenomenon after probably the most agonising miss ever seen in a football match.

Egeas Plomariou was taking part in a league match for the island of Lesvos against Papnikolis when he fired a shot in from the right of the box.

The effort beat the keeper easily, but hit the far post – then bounced up off the crossbar, onto the near post, and then rolled across the face of goal to hit the far post once more.
