In yet another case of sexual offence against women, a 23-year-old Chinese woman was raped by a man in Indian capital (New Delhi), earlier this week.

New Delhi, Feb 8/Nationalturk  – China on Friday said a 23-year-old Chinese woman was raped in Indian capital earlier this week and asked Indian government to sternly punish the rapist.

Media reports said 23-year-old Chinese woman was raped by an event manager in Indian capital (New Delhi’s) Malviya Nagar earlier this week. They said local police station has registered a case and the accused has been arrested.

The Chinese Embassy in India has confirmed that a Chinese woman was raped in New Delhi.

Sources said Chinese Embassy officials have made official contacts with the Indian police and Indian Foreign Ministry officials after coming to know that a young Chinese woman was raped by an Indian man.

They said the embassy has urged the Indian government to seriously deal with the incident and arrest and harshly punish the rapist to render justice to the victim.

It also urged Indian government to take adequate measures to protect Chinese citizens in India and prevent occurrence of such incidents in future.

Sources said Indian government has told Chinese diplomats that the officials were seriously looking into the incident and all measures would be taken to protect security, legal rights and privacy of the rape victim.

China asks its citizens in India to remain alert

They said Chinese embassy in New Delhi has urged its citizens in India especially women to remain alert about their personal security and avoid going out of the house alone. “The embassy warned its citizens not to visit insecure places and report to police and Chinese embassy once they meet any unusual situation”.

The incident has taken places weeks after a 23-year-old Indian girl was gang raped in a moving bus by six persons and later brutally assaulted. She died of the injuries in Singapore hospital.

It is pertinent to mention here that Chief Minister of Delhi Sheila Dikhshit recently told media persons that Delhi is unsafe for women.
