After April 15 Chinese incursion in Indian territory, Indian defence minister A K Antony Wednesday said his country will take every step to protect national integrity and security.
New Delhi, April 24/Nationalturk – With India and China armies facing face-off in mountainous Ladakh in Indian administered Kashmir after Chinese troops incursion on April 15, Indian defence minister A K Antony Wednesday said his country will take every step to protect national integrity.
“Negotiations are in progress at various levels to resolve the issue of incursion with China peacefully,” Antony told reporters on sidelines of a function in Indian city of Bangalore.
He said Indian government will take every step to protect the national integrity and security.
India has alleged that China’s People’s Liberation Army soldiers crossed 10 kilometres (six miles) into Indian territory position in Depsang Valley in Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO) sector in Ladakh on April 15 and set up tents there.
India Foreign ministry spokesman Syed Akbaruddin said yesterday asked China to revert to the status quo position in Depsang Valley in Ladakh as it was before the incursion.
“We see this as a face-to-face situation between border personnel of two sides due to differences on their alignment of Line of Actual Control (LAC),” he had said.
Chinese had denied Indian allegations
China has denied that its troops crossed into Indian territory. Its foreign ministry spokesman has said Chinese troops were patrolling in their own territory.
“Our troops are patrolling on the Chinese side of the actual line of control and have never trespassed the line,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said.
Meanwhile, media reports said Chinese military officials during the flag-level meeting yesterday had asked Indian military officials to dismantle several fortified positions in Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO) sector in Ladakh.
“The Indian side refused to accept the Chinese demand and that led to an impasse in the flag meeting,” reports said adding Chinese side told India that its troops would not move out from Depsang until its demands were met.
