In an attempt to protect its cultural and ancient relics, Chinese government asked foreign and domestic tourists in the country to behave properly and act in civilized manner.
Beijing, May 29/Nationalturk-: The Chinese government has framed new set of regulations for foreign and domestic tourists and asked them to behave properly and act in civilized manner.
“The Chinese government has put into effect a national convention calling on tourists to take note of their behavior and act civilized when traveling, China’s newspaper, China daily reported.
It said in the convention a set of detailed regulations were issued by National Tourism Administration and these were posted on official website.
“Being a civilized tourist is the obligation of each person travelling or based in to the country,” the regulations said and urged tourists to follow the norms so that ‘cultural relics’ can be protected.
‘Photos can be taken only if permitted’
It rejected behavior such as doodling, carving characters into ‘ancient relics’ and climbing or touching ‘cultural relics’. “Photos can only be taken of relics when permission is allowed”.
The regulations advised tourists to maintain a clean environment, comply with public orders, protecting ecology, protecting public infrastructure and utilities, respecting other people’s rights, showing courtesy to others and seeking appropriate entertainment.
The convention came after graffiti appeared in an Egyptian temple by a teenage Chinese tourist caused uproar among Chinese residents, who have reflected on how to better regulate behaviors in order to build a good national image.
The boy’s parents have apologized to public for their son’s behavior, saying that the boy had cried all night after the public outcry on his behaviour.
