Liverpool shelves filled the full of Spaniards with Benitez ,now will be transferred David Villa to Chelsea made El Blues.
Chelsea could be ready with a bid for Barcelona striker David Villa. The 31-year-old is 18 months away from the end of his contract at the Nou Camp but after returning from an eight month injury lay-off he has spent much of the current season on the Barcelona bench and is said to be unhappy at the prospect of a lack of first-team football.
A number of outlets are today reporting Chelsea’s interest but the Daily Mirror claims the Blues will put in a £12million bid for a player who cost Barcelona £33million when they bought him from Valencia in 2010. A £12million bid will see Barca recoup Villa’s current book value as football clubs spread the transfer fee over the life of a player’s initial contract so a year-and-a-half left on a four-year contract for a player costing £33million works out at around £12million.
Chelsea boss Rafael Benitez wants an out-and-out striker to give Fernando Torres a break and that he sees Villa as the man for that role. Barca claimed earlier this week that Villa would not be leaving the club in January but the prospect of more regular first-team football at Stamford Bridge could leave him to push for a move away from the Nou Camp.
Villa is said to be frustrated with his situation at FC Barcelona where he has been struggling to win a consistent place in the starting line-up with the La Liga leaders.
With Lionel Messi cementing his place in the team and Pedro having a very good season, Villa has been left battling out with Alexis Sanchez for a slot, a fight he’s failed to win more time than less.
And after being linked with moves to Liverpool and Arsenal, it is now being reported that the striker is also on the wish list of Chelsea, who strongly believe Villa and Fernando Torres could make-up one of the Premier League’s most dominant strike force.
