Chelsea are set to complete the £7.9 million signing of Marseille defender Cesar Azpilicueta.
Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo has been pursuing the signing of a right-back for two months after the release of Jose Bosingwa this summer. Azpilicueta was believed to be the club’s number one right-back target and after a struggle to meet the French club’s valuation, the full-back who turns 23-years-old on August 28th, now looks to be swapping Marseille for London after an agreement of a price looks to been struck between the two clubs.
Azpiluceta’s representatives were believed to be in London Friday to discuss personal terms and finalise the loose ends of the deal. It all looks like formalities from here, with sources from Goal.com claiming that the defender will play for Marseille in their Ligue 1 home fixture against Sochaux on Sunday before linking up with his new Chelsea team-mates next week.
Azipilcueta played one match in Spain’s ill-fated Olympics 2012 tournament at which the World & European Champions were knocked out at the group stages. Prior to that he was overlooked for selection for the UEFA Euro 2012 tournament but does hope to be included in his country’s World Cup qualifying campaign.

Indeed, Jose Bosingwa was released on a free transfer and the spot is still vacant because when you watch chelsea played in the community shield against the premier league champions manchester city before the start of the 2012/2013 season when ivanovic was sent off in with a red card, there was nobody to play the right back role and that was were city took there victory from because Ramires could not play the wing well enough, yes this will definitely be a plus signing for the EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS
looking forward 2 dis chelsea victory
