Zenith St Petersburg’s Brazilian striker will be in London in June, Chelsea at the end of managed to transfer.
Zenit St Petersburg striker Hulk has fueled speculation that he may make a summer move to Chelsea by posting a photo on a social media site of himself and his manager travelling to London for “work.”
Hulk was recently with Chelsea stars David Luiz and Oscar on international duty with Brazil: Hulk has long been linked with a move to Chelsea, but there is no indication at this stage that the former Porto star has any discussions with the Stamford Bridge hierarchy on his itinerary.
But with no Champions League football being played in London this week, it is unclear exactly what “work” Hulk has lined up.
It is possible that Luiz, not to mention Oscar, tried to persuade Hulk of the merits of a move to England.
Spalletti was sacked after falling out with a number of Russian players at Zenit but Hulk may well have been unsettled by the departure of the man who paid £50m to sign him from Portugal.
But after Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham fans all posted their excitement over a potential signing on Twitter, it turns out the Zenit St Petersburg striker was merely having a brief stop-over en route to Portugal.
Hulk has long been linked with a move to England, with Chelsea and Tottenham particularly keen on the Brazilian international, while Arsenal are also looking for a new centre-forward.
But it doesn’t look as though a move will be happening this month, with Hulk due to return to Zenit for February’s Champions League tie against Borussia Dortmund, with the Russian league not due to get back underway until March.
So news that Hulk has been photographed in London is an intriguing development, news that surely means that the Zenit St Petersburg forward is on his way to Chelsea, who happen to play in London. Hulk in London. Chelsea in London. There is some fine detective work going on this morning and no mistake, all the pieces of the puzzle are coming together, and not one of them has Romelu Lukaku’s face on it.
The Blues are already linked with a number of names. Here, we bring together the latest news and comments surrounding those who are currently being touted with a move to Stamford Bridge.
