American actress Rebecca Balding has died. Her husband, the director, screenwriter and film producer James L. Conway, confirmed the sad news to the US newspaper “Entertainment Weekly”. Accordingly, Balding succumbed to her cancer on July 18. She suffered from ovarian cancer. The actress was 73 years old.
Balding was born on September 21, 1948 in Little Rock. She studied acting at the University of Kansas. After graduating, she moved to Chicago, where she started her career.
Known from “Soap” and “Charmed”
Balding has appeared in many US series. In the 1990s, she had guest appearances on “A Heavenly Family”, “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “Melrose Place”. She had one of her most famous roles in the series “Soap – Trautes Heim”. From 1978 to 1980 she played the sneaky lawyer Carol David in the TV hit. In 1976 she landed her first role in the television film “The Bionic Woman”.
In 1980 she was then engaged for an engagement in the horror film “Psychock”. It was also around this time that she met her husband, James L. Conway, while auditioning for the horror film ‘The Boogens’ (1981), which he directed. Most recently, the actress played Elise Rothman in the mystery series “Charmed – Zauberliche Hexen” from 2002 to 2006. She also leaves behind two daughters in addition to her husband Conway.
