For a long time they were considered the dream couple of German football. But last year, rumors of a crisis about the marriage of Cathy and Mats Hummels emerged for the first time. The professional footballer, who lives in Dortmund due to his contract with BVB, has been linked to other women several times. His wife, who lives in Munich with their child, repeatedly posted cryptic allusions to their relationship status on Instagram.
The moderator and the athlete have never confirmed a marriage. Cathy’s latest post is fueling rumors of a breakup again. “It’s not easy, but it’s worth it. He’s happy to have both parents in his life,” writes the 34-year-old about a photo in her story that shows her and Mats eating together with their son Ludwig.
Cathy has always made one thing clear in the past: no matter how complicated the relationship with her husband is, the well-being of their four-year-old son has top priority for both of them.
In July, the presenter was surprisingly open in an interview with “Bunte”, explaining about her private life at the time: “I’ve learned to put my needs first – after my son. I couldn’t do that for a long time. I wanted to do everything to have a happy marriage, I organized everyday family life, the holidays, just everything. […] I loved my husband very much and always wanted to take care of everything perfectly, but it just didn’t go on like this.”
Cathy and Mats Hummels met in 2007. On June 15, 2015, they said yes in Munich. Son Ludwig was born three years later. In January he celebrated his fourth birthday.
