Bombers have carried out a bomb attack on the Egyptian Minister of the Interior. Near his convoy exploded a car bomb in Cairo. Mohammed Ibrahim survived, several others were apparently injured.

An explosion has rocked a district of the Egyptian capital Cairo. With the car bomb apparently was the interior minister of the country, Mohammed Ibrahim, are taken. State media reported that Ibrahim had survived.

According to security sources said the bomb exploded near his house in the district of Nasr City. At the time of the attack the convoy of the Minister from there had gone in the direction of the Home Office.

A ministry spokesman said several people were injured. Further details were not immediately known.
