More than 25,000 British Hajj Pilgrims are joining over 2 million Pilgrims from around the globe to perform Hajj on 25th October 2012.
London / NationalTurk – However, a vast of majority of British Pilgrims, once again this year are suffering from extreme hardship and difficulties at the hands of unscrupulous and rogue Hajj/Umrah tour and travel operators.
Association of British Hujjaj (Pilgrims) UK (ABH) noted its extreme concern that these tour and travel operators organising Hajj and Umrah tours are preying on vulnerable pilgrims including sick, elderly, and women; cheating and charging them at extortionate and unjustified prices for the Hajj packages.
In view that many Hajj Pilgrims are likely to have spent their life-savings to fulfil their desires and wishes to perform their religious obligation, such conduct by these tour operators is shambolic. Some of the Pilgrims have been left stranded and unfortunately will not be able to perform their Hajj this year.
British Muslims falling to victim to high Hajj tour prices
This issue is affecting a population of over 2 million British Muslims including disabled, sick, and elderly. They are angry, frustrated, and feel let down about the lack of help and support from the relevant authorities. They are being deprived of their human rights and have been left on the mercy of ruthless, unscrupulous, and rogue tour and travel operators; those who have no regard or respect for the law of the land.
These tour operators are indulging in all sorts of illegal and immoral activities and causing extreme hardship, trauma, financial exploitation, and mental anguish to these innocent and vulnerable Hajj/Umrah Pilgrims. These Pilgrims are also being intimidated, bullied, and suffer degrading treatment at the hands of the unscrupulous and rogue tour and travel operators.
A shocking revelation came out in a recent report produced by the Birmingham City Council’s Trading Standards Department which stated that only 4 out of 40 Hajj/Umrah tour and travel operators are completely compliant with UK Package tour and travel regulations (1992).
British Government must take desicive action to help Hajj pilgrims
The Association of British Hujjaj (Pilgrims) UK, a National charity, working for the welfare and wellbeing of British Hajj/Umrah Pilgrims has sent a letter to Rt Hon Dr Vincent Cable, Secretary of State, Business, Innovation and Skills Department. A copy of this letter has been sent to the Leader of Liberal Democrats, Nick Clegg, Leader of Labour Party, Ed Miliband, a number of MPs, and Members of House of Lords.
This national charity strongly urges the British Government to take decisive action to help and protect the vulnerable and innocent fellow citizens from pain, misery, mental anguish, trauma, exploitation and to ensure to safeguard their basic human rights by implementing the rule of law.
