Breaking News – 6 Turkish soldiers killed during gun battle with PKK militants.

According to officials, six Turkish soldiers have been killed during a gun battle in the Çukurca borough of Hakkari Eastern Turkey.

Initial reports from the area have said that six Turkish soldiers have been killed while PKK militants were caught trying to raid an army unit.

The attacks which took place at the army unit at Çukurca, near the Kavuşak village close to the border of Iraq, was also broadcasted on Turkish State TV channel TRT.

No information regarding the number of injured soldiers or their severity have been given yet.

The Turkish military have started operations around the area.

The gun battle lasted to the early morning hours

According to Turkish officials, six soldiers were killed and 15 soldiers were injured at the attacks by the PKK militants.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, confirmed at his Party’s group meeting that six soldiers had been killed and 15 soldiers were injured.

According to some sources, there were 17 soldiers injured. It is not yet known what the condition of the injured are.

Air support was also drafted in to the area and one PKK terrorist was killed in the gun battle.

It is not yet known how many militants were involved in the attack on the army base but much of the soldiers that were killed and injured were the result of the initial attacks by the separatist group.

The injured soldiers were taken to the Hakkari Military hospital for treatment.
