Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro apparently in the hospital

Apparently, the Brazilian president was not doing well on the way to a party event. According to media reports, Bolsonaro has been hospitalized.

According to media reports, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was again taken to the hospital for examinations on Monday. Bolsonaro felt a queasy stomach, reported the news portal “G1” and the newspaper “Folha de S. Paulo”, citing government spokesman Fabio Faria.

Accordingly, the head of state was on his way to a party event of the Republicanos in Brasília, but did not appear there, but made his way to the military hospital. His wife Michelle was quoted as saying he was fine.

Knife attack 2018

The right-wing populist politician only had to go to a clinic in São Paulo for treatment in January because of an intestinal blockage from vacation. After two days he was released. An intestinal blockage had already been diagnosed in July. Bolsonaro was then treated for several days in a clinic in São Paulo.

At a campaign event in September 2018, a mentally disturbed man stabbed Bolsonaro, severely injuring him in the stomach. The ex-military then continued the election campaign from the hospital. The following month he was elected President. Bolsonaro had to undergo several operations, even after taking office in early 2019. Among other things, his intestinal tract had to be restored.

President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) was admitted to the Hospital das Forças Armadas (HFA), in Brasília (DF), on Monday night (3/28). He felt unwell when he was still in the Planalto Palace, with discomfort in the abdominal region, he received initial care from doctors from the presidential team and, soon after, was taken to the hospital for tests.

Doctors suspect that the president has a new condition of intestinal obstruction.

The president was expected for the affiliation ceremony of two of his ministers – Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas (Infrastructure) and Damares Alves (Family, Women and Human Rights) – to the Republicans, but, due to malaise, he did not attend.

In January, Bolsonaro released a photo with a nasogastric tube after being admitted to the Vila Nova Star Hospital in São Paulo. On the occasion, the president interrupted his vacation on the coast of Santa Catarina and was admitted to the hospital in the capital of São Paulo, where he has been hospitalized on other occasions.

In a medical bulletin, the hospital reported that the president had a clinical condition of intestinal subocclusion – that is: again the intestinal obstruction that has affected him since he was stabbed in 2018.

After a week in the hospital, he was discharged without the need for further surgery.

Since he suffered a knife attack in the 2018 election campaign, Bolsonaro has undergone six surgeries. Two of them were unrelated to the stabbing: a vasectomy and a bladder stone removal.
