Boris Becker’s mother Elvira is dead

The former tennis star Boris Becker is mourning the loss of his mother Elvira, who died at the age of 89.

As the news portal “Bild” reports, she was found lifeless in her apartment in Leimen, Baden-Württemberg, on Thursday morning. Becker was immediately informed of the death by telephone and is currently on his way to his hometown.

Becker’s lawyer Oliver Moser confirmed the death when asked by “Bild”: “I can confirm the death of Elvira Becker. Boris Becker is in deep mourning.” The former professional athlete repeatedly showed that he had a close bond with his mother. For Mother’s Day, he published a series of photos on Instagram. They all showed his mother Elvira Becker. For example, you could see mother and son lying in each other’s arms. Another picture shows Becker’s mother with her new daughter-in-law. He wrote about the series: “The one and only… Elvira! Happy Mother’s Day.”

Elvira Becker was always at her son’s side, even in times when her son was less well. During his time in prison in Britain for bankruptcy offenses in 2022, she supported him by phone.

Recently, however, she had to miss an event that was important to her son for health reasons. She was unable to travel to her son’s wedding. “I’m not coping health-wise, my legs can’t take it anymore. It’s a long journey,” she explained at the time, according to “Bild”.Boris Becker married his new wife Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro in 2024. The couple lives together in Milan.

Becker’s father Karl-Heinz has been dead for many years. He died of the effects of cancer in 1999.
