Boat accident in Sardinia: 1 dead

On Sunday evening, a 21-meter-long yacht hit the rocks off Porto Cervo in Sardinia.

The 60-year-old owner of the boat was killed and six other people were injured.

The boat owner, about whose origin there was initially no further information, was rescued alive but unconscious by the coast guard of Porto Cervo in Sardinia, but died shortly thereafter. A total of seven people were on board the yacht. The injured were treated in Porto Cervo. According to media reports, two of them are in serious condition and have been hospitalized.

The accident, which happened around 8:40 p.m., is said to have been caused by a sudden maneuver by the captain, who wanted to avoid a collision with another boat. The yacht partially sank, the wreck was recovered and towed to the port of call at Porto Cervo in Sardinia.
