Bern: Climate activists stick to the highway exit

Climate activists are blocking a motorway exit again! This time Bern-Wankdorf is affected.

Five climate activists again briefly blocked a motorway exit on Tuesday morning, this time in Bern-Wankdorf. According to their own statements, they are sympathizers of the Renovate Switzerland movement.

This is a “civil resistance campaign,” according to the movement’s website. She calls on the Federal Council to introduce a national program for massive building renovation.

Traffic delays and traffic jams

The action in Bern-Wankdorf began – to the annoyance of many commuters – at 7:40 a.m. There were traffic delays and traffic jams. The Bernese cantonal police was shortly thereafter with a large contingent on site.

Police spokeswoman Ramona Mock told Blick: “Six activists attached themselves to the street with glue.” A total of twelve activists were on site.

The situation returned to normal after 8 a.m

The police were able to remove the adhesive and took the protesters to the police station for further investigation. After 8 a.m., morning traffic began to circulate again as usual.

This is the third motorway blockade within a short period of time. In the past week, activists from Renovate Switzerland had already blocked the motorway exits in Geneva and Lausanne.
