In Berlin-Charlottenburg, a vehicle drove into a large crowd. Eight people were injured and one person died.
A car drove into a group of people and a shop in Berlin. According to the fire department, one person was killed and at least eight injured on Wednesday morning. According to the police, the accident happened around 10:30 a.m. on Tauentzienstraße (at number 13) near the Memorial Church and the Ku’damm.
The vehicle is a car, a police spokesman said. The police and fire brigade were on duty. Police spokesman Thilo Cablitz said: “At the moment we don’t know whether it was an intentional act or a traffic accident.” The suspected driver of the vehicle was arrested by police at the scene. A photo posted online shows a car parked in a shop window.
The area around was cordoned off. “There are currently around 60 emergency services on site or on the way,” the fire department tweeted. The fire brigade had initially spoken of 30 injuries.
In December 2016, an Islamist assassin drove into a Christmas market near the Memorial Church. At that time, twelve people died and more than 70 were injured.
