Attack on referee: Faruk Koca Arrested

President Faruk Koca, who attacked referee Halil Umut Meler with a punch after the MKE Ankaragücü-Çaykur Rizespor match played in the 15th week of the Super League, was arrested.

Three suspects, including MKE Ankaragücü President Faruk Koca, who were detained within the scope of the investigation into the attack, were sent to the courthouse.

K.Ç., who attacked the referee and was detained yesterday evening. and Ş.Y.Ş. He was brought to Ankara Western Courthouse. Meanwhile, 3 more people were detained within the scope of the investigation.

Ankaragücü President Faruk Koca and two other people who punched Halil Umut Meler at the end of the match were arrested.

The arrested Koca was taken to Sincan Prison.

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, MKE Ankaragücü President Faruk Koca and suspects Ş. Y.S. and K. Ç. were arrested for injuring a public official resulting in a fracture in the sports field due to his public duty.

Minister Tunç’s post on his social media account is as follows;

“On 11/12/2023, after the Ankaragücü-Çaykur Rizespor Trendyol Super League match, all the suspects who went down to the field and participated in the act of violence against the referee of the match and the fans who went down to the field after the match were accused of violating the Law No. 6222 on the Prevention of Violence and Disorder in Sports and acting as a public official in accordance with the Turkish Penal Code.” Within the scope of the investigation initiated by our Ankara West Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office for the crimes of injury and threat due to his public duty,

Suspects F. K., Ş. Y.S. and K.C. Following his statements taken by our Ankara West Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, he was arrested by the Ankara West Criminal Judgeship of Peace on Duty, for injuring a public official in a sports field, resulting in a fracture, due to his public duty.

The suspects, who were determined to have gone onto the field at the end of the match from video analysis, were R. K., Ö.O.Ü, V.D. A judicial control decision was requested against him in accordance with Law No. 6222.”
