Assassination of ex-rugby player Aramburu: Loïk Le Priol, suspect, arrested in Hungary

The main suspect in the death on Saturday in Paris of ex-rugby player Federico Martin Aramburu was arrested last night in Hungary, AFP learned from sources close to the case.

This is Loïk Le Priol, confirms the Paris prosecutor’s office this Wednesday. He was arrested in Hungary on the border with Ukraine, said another source familiar with the matter.

The 27-year-old man, a former soldier and member of the far-right GUD movement, is suspected of having shot the ex-rugby player who died on the spot.

Another man, also active on the far right, who also allegedly fired, is still wanted.

“Complicity in Murder”

On Tuesday, a young woman, aged 24, suspected of having driven the car from which the two men allegedly shot the former Argentinian international, was indicted for “complicity in murder” and placed in pre-trial detention.

The 42-year-old ex-rugby player was shot and killed after an altercation in a bar in Saint-Germain-des-Près, Le Mabillon. Loïk Le Priol, arrested last night in Hungary, near the border with Ukraine, belongs to the ultra-right movement, must also appear next June for “aggravated violence” against a member of the GUD.
