Arnold Schwarzenegger confessed his illegitimate child to his wife

When the infidelity of “Terminator” star Arnold Schwarzenegger was exposed, his illegitimate child was already a teenager. This not only caused a kink in the actor’s career, but also caused his marriage to break up.

The 75-year-old reports this in the Netflix documentary “Arnold”, which will premiere on June 7th on the streaming platform.

In this film, which sheds light on the life of the actor and politician, the affair with his former housekeeper is also addressed. Schwarzenegger cheated on his then-wife Maria Shriver with her in 1996. In the trailer for the documentary released in mid-May, Arnie said: “I’ve caused my family enough suffering, I’ll have to live with it for the rest of my life.” The US magazine “People” now reports that he is in fact referring to his infidelity with this sentence.

“Then I told her the truth”

In the Netflix production, Schwarzenegger recalled the transformative moment when Shriver confronted him: “Maria and I went to marriage counseling once a week. In one session, the marriage counselor said, ‘I think today Maria wants to address something. Her wants to know if you are Joseph’s father.’ I thought my heart would stop and then I told her the truth.”

Without further ado, he confessed: “It broke her, I had an affair in 1996.” At first, however, he was not sure whether the child of housekeeper Mildred Baena was actually his. “But the older he got, the clearer it became to me. From then on, the only question was how to hide it. How could the secret be kept?” However, he states that he loves his illegitimate son.

The “Terminator” star and Shriver were married in 1986, and their relationship had four children: 33-year-old Katherine, Christina, who was two years younger, Patrick, who was also two years younger, and Christopher, who is now 25. In May 2011, the two announced their separation. Just a few days later, in an interview, he admitted his infidelity.
