Anna Ermakova: “I still tried to help him”
Boris Becker was sentenced to two and a half years in prison. His daughter Anna Ermakova was the first member of the family to speak up and talk about what worries her the most.
It has been clear since Friday afternoon: Boris Becker must be behind bars. The judge set the sentence at two years and six months, with the tennis star having to spend at least half of this time in prison. He was taken away from the London court and is said to have already been taken to the notorious Wandsworth Prison in the south of the city.
A shock for Becker and especially for his family. His partner Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro and his first-born son Noah Becker supported him in the hall. But daughter Anna Ermakova also followed the trial – and was deeply dismayed by the verdict. “Honestly, I’m in shock,” said the 22-year-old in an interview with “Bild” just a few hours after the end of the trial.
Although the father and daughter had not seen each other for a long time, Anna still supported him during the process, she emphasized. “I still tried to help him as best I could. I wrote a letter to the court to express my concern for my little half-brother Amadeus,” said the model.
“I hope he’s strong”
She is concerned that the twelve-year-old is now being deprived of his father figure in an “important phase of his development”. It’s “simply not fair that Amadeus has to go through this now,” complains Anna and fears: “It will be particularly difficult for him.”
She also worries about her father: “I hope that he is strong in these difficult times.” Of course she wanted to visit him in prison and try to continue to support him as best as possible. “I hope that will help a bit to get through the time,” she said on “Bild”.
Anna is the tennis star’s only daughter and stems from his affair with model Angela Ermakova. In addition to son Amadeus, whom he has with ex-wife Lilly Becker, Boris Becker also has 22-year-old Elias and Noah, six years his senior, who emerged from his marriage to Barbara Becker.
The three-time Wimbledon champion is said to have concealed his assets in the millions after being declared bankrupt by a London court in 2017. He was found guilty on four out of 24 charges in early April. Becker and his team can still appeal the guilty verdict and the sentence.
