Amy Winehouse : Instead of a Concert Vacation in İstanbul
After troubled British singer Amy Winehouse has announced she cancelled her concerts in Turkey and Greece, following a disastrous drunken performance in Serbia, Winehouse stays now in Istanbul for vacation.
“She has agreed with management that she cannot perform to the best of her ability and will return home.” stated the official announcement from her manager and the head of the concert organisation. However she seems to have found the right environment for sobriety and brief rehab in Istanbul, Turkey.
The gifted but troubled Amy Winehouse flew right after the scandalous Belgrad concert to İstanbul, she was still in a drunken state, while she arrived at 4.30 AM in her Hotel in Besiktas, Istanbul. She fell asleep right away, and slept throughout the next day. Her manager has waited for her condition to get better, but to no avail. She wanted to get to the stage for her turkish fans, but she was in no state to perform. In the evening hours on monday, the concert was already officially cancelled. Amy Winehouse’s boyfriend Reg Traviss arrived in İstanbul then, and the couple decided to stay a few days in Istanbul to rest and recreate.

Amy Winehouse and her director boyfriend are going to spend at least a couple of days on their unintended vacation in İstanbul, where the city sits on the Bosphorus Strait, where Europe and Asia meet. Once the capital of both the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires, the city is home to landmarks of astounding beauty such as Topkapı Palace, the Blue Mosque and the Grand Bazaar.
