Turkish side Besiktas Cola Turca player Allen Iverson, return to Us for surgery. Iverson’s manager dennied retirement speculations.
Allen Iverson who has been to Turkey since last year after signing up with Besiktas, a Turkish Basketball League team competing in the second-tier level of European professional basketball, the Eurocup is returning to US for a surgery to be done to remove lesion in his right leg.
Rumors about his impending retirement populated in various news sites earlier. Accordingly, the retirement announcement has promulgated from the words he uttered saying: “Leaving the basketball world makes me sad but, sometimes, we have to accept things like they are. I can say goodbye to basketball.”
NO RETIREMENT
However, as reported by CBS Sports, Allen Iverson’s manager spoke in an interview and said that Inverson “totally disputes” the retirement reports. Instead of retirement, he is hoping to return in time to play for Besiktas during the playoffs after his surgery in the US.
In his basketball career, Allen Iverson won the NBA scoring title during the 1998–99, 2000–01, 2001–02 and 2004–05 seasons. Despite his small stature as compared to other NBA basketball players, he has become one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history. In fact, he was also the NBA Most Valuable Player of the 2000–01 season and led his team to the 2001 NBA Finals the same season.
