Aliyev, Karzai Arrive for ECO Summit

Presidents of Azerbaijan and Afghanistan arrived in Turkey on Wednesday to attend the summit meeting of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

The jets carrying President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan arrived at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport separately in the afternoon.

Istanbul Governor Huseyin Avni Mutlu and other officials welcomed the visiting leaders.

Aliyev’s procession had to wait for a while as two luggages were forgotten on the plane.

Tajikistan President Emomali Rakhman has already arrived while Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is also set to arrive in Istanbul later in the day to attend the ECO summit, which will be held on Thursday.
