Aid flotilla ship Mavi Marmara returns to Turkey from Israel after deadly raid
NationalTurk ISKENDERUN – Turkish relief boat Mavi Marmara, the lead vessel in a Gaza-bound flotilla which came under a deadly Israeli attack, reached Turkey’s southern port of Iskenderun on Saturday.
Israel decided on July 23 to give back the three aid ships it seized after a deadly raid by Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) which resulted in the death of nine activists.
Nine people, including eight Turks and a U.S. citizen of Turkish descent, were killed and recently a UN backed investigation was started. Around 30 people were wounded in the attack.
Another vessel with the convoy, Defne-Y, docked at the Iskenderun port on Friday and a third one, Gaza, is expected to arrive later Saturday.
The deadly raid by Israeli soldiers on the Mavi Marmara prompted an outcry from millions of people around the world and was condemned by several nations.
The pressure from protesters and nations got to the point where Israel started to allow certain food products which were previously disallowed, to enter into Gaza.
Egypt which borders Gaza was also forced to open its borders to Gaza for a brief period after mounting pressure from the Arab world.

I hope the UN investigation of the Gaza Flotilla Incident will be honest and impartial but i wouldn’t count on it. I can’t help but wonder what Sec. Moon promised apartheid Israel to get its participation in the investigation. Afterall, the UN is a mouthpiece for the US and everyone knows where the US stands on apartheid Israel.
