They were considered a dream couple in Hollywood and were inseparable for almost 40 years. But now Dan Aykroyd and Donna Dixon’s marriage has broken down. The actors announced this in a statement.
It was love at first sight, Dan Aykroyd once gushed about the moment he met his wife Donna Dixon. The ‘Blues Brothers’ star and his fellow actress met on the set of the 1982 comedy ‘Dr. Detroit.’ Just a year later, they walked down the aisle. Since then, the two have been considered a dream couple in Hollywood, even in front of the camera. They shot several films together like “Twilight Zone”, “Spies Like Us”, “The Couch Trip” or “Undercover Cops”.
Their three daughters Danielle, Belle and Stella made the family happiness perfect. Their separation is all the more surprising. “After 39 years as a couple, we are now going our separate ways in life,” said Dan Aykroyd and Donna Dixon in a joint statement released by People magazine.
“Choosing a Loving Friendship”
It was a “decision for a loving friendship,” emphasized the former couple. Divorce is out of the question, they want to remain “legally married” and continue to support each other as “parents, colleagues and business partners,” said Aykroyd and Dixon.
While the former “Miss Virginia” retired from the film business in the mid-1990s, her husband was enjoying great success as an actor. Aykroyd’s best-known strips include the “Ghostbusters” series, in the third part of which he appeared in 2021, the “Blues Brothers” films from 1980 and 1998 and “Die Glücksritter”.
