An activist based in Seoul has alleged that, North Korean soldiers were behind the sinking of a South Korean vessel which went down last month.
The activist referred to a North Korean military officer who he claimed had knowledge of the incident which led to the death of 46 sailors.
According to the unidentified officer, a North Korean vessel said to be semi-submersible, fired a torpedo at the South Korean vessel which was carrying an estimated 104 crew members.
The activist even said that there were 13 crew members in the alleged North Korean vessel which fired the torpedo.
However, South Korean officials said that the claim could not be verified or confirmed.
The claim comes just five days after part of the South Korean vessel which was sunk almost a month ago was lifted out of the sea with a giant offshore crane.
The 1,200-ton Cheonan was sunk on 26 March. 38 bodies were recovered from the sunken ship with eight sailors missing.
An early investigation had confirmed that the vessel had most likely sunken from an external explosion, but this could have been from a missile or most likely according to authorities as a sea mine from the 1950’s.
North Korea have strongly denied any involvement in the sinking of the South Korean vessel and no South Korean authorities have officially blamed North Korean military, but there are still tensions between the two countries due to the matter if not in the open.

So North Korea blows their ship up and kills scores of sailors, and the South retaliates by………….? Doing nothing!
Of course they cannot offend the North for blowing up ships and killing their navy personnel.
